So a little dolly story.

I'm not sure how many of you know that I make porcelain dolls. I adore the process of it. Anyway was talking tonight to a friend here in the country and she was going on about a woman she saw on Dr Phil who was very attached to a baby doll. Saying how odd it was. And I mentioned that I've often made baby dolls to people's wishes. My sister in law mentioned I'd made one for her when her first grandchild was born. A sweet little blond green eyed boy. I found a great wavy boy wig and it just is amazingly like her g-child. She keeps in in a glass cabinet.

Well our friend started playing with it. And you could see the conversion of the *dolls are weird* to *this little guy is terrific*.

Fun stuff. I so have to get back to the clay.

hehe! that is a cute story :D
Well I sortof have to get her ready for when all my dolls are unpacked.

I did get a kick out of that change in attitude. I need to find a pic of that doll.
yay for converting non doll people!!
can you post some pics of your porcelain creations??
I'll give it a try. I'm sure I've got pics on the desktop. None of the dolls are out here, because of the dust. though I do have a couple here that get boxed whenever I take them out for the company. *g*
I think it takes actually being around them to making a difference. Plus it was your own personal touch that made the difference.
Yep. And there's nothing quite like holding one of these dolls in your hands. My porcelain kids are made a bit floppy with the weight done to force you to hold butt and neck, it's fun and disconcerting to folks who don't know the tricks of it.

I havent kept a lot of my dolls, so I should go search for some of them.
*G!*
though it wasn't a purposeful conversion, and really it was my sil's fault.
When you convert a non-doll person, you get a toaster. That's what Mercy tells me anyway and I still owe her a toaster I guess. Still trying to score miniature one from Rement to give her. :-D
Good job - you converted one! - lol.
See, just an open mind can alter anyone's perception. Dolls can be very therapeutic, I've read that some therapists use the Lee Middleton infants to help their patients.
Great story.
Indeed. Great little story about resistance to dolls breaking down when one views a treasured art piece doll. :D

PS - I bet your porcelain dolls are amazing!!
They are amazing dolls.
I'm going to take the liberty of spamming the thread with some pix to prove it.
Now, these were taken with a very limited camera, in not so great light, and you can still see how gorgeous they are.
The color subtleties in how she does their faces (which isn't easy to do) is just amazing.

The clothes are a true indigo blue, just for the sake of mental white-balancing!

spam away. These two are incredibly sweet wee ones. Baby Drin and Naga-little.
